FASB Proposes Updates to Clarify Interim Reporting Guidance
ALT Alliance, Inc., a New York City-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, made a significant impact at the United Nations’ ‘Summit of the Future Action Days’ held on September 20-21, 2024. The organization, represented by a team including Flora Mo, Jessie Wang, Cheryl Huang, Yue Feng, Linhan Jiang, and Benson Chen, joined global leaders, youth advocates, and civil society organizations to advocate for the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This collaboration underscores the organization’s dedication to addressing pressing global challenges with actionable, community-driven solutions.
During the summit, ALT Alliance emphasized its mission to bridge the gap between global sustainability commitments and tangible local impacts. By focusing on issues like climate change, economic equity, and digital inclusion, the nonprofit aims to connect abstract SDG principles with meaningful, real-world outcomes that benefit communities and the planet alike. “Sustainability means different things to different people,” the organization noted, highlighting the importance of tailoring initiatives to diverse community needs.
Building on the summit’s insights, ALT Alliance announced an expansion of its efforts in five priority areas. These include mental health initiatives that use art therapy to foster resilience and inclusivity, programs promoting cross-cultural dialogue to enhance social cohesion, and strategic partnerships aimed at amplifying systemic change. The organization also plans to empower youth to lead climate action and continue its support for women’s economic equity through initiatives targeting gender disparities. Linhan Jiang, Development Lead at ALT Alliance, expressed gratitude to partners like the PVBLIC Foundation and the UN Youth Office for championing youth voices and reinforcing the organization’s belief in the urgency of localized action.
This participation at the UN summit reaffirms ALT Alliance’s commitment to driving sustainable change. By linking global goals with community-specific actions, the nonprofit is setting an example of how grassroots efforts can catalyze transformative progress.
