CAAA 2025 Calls for Research Papers on Disruptive Marketplace Dynamics
The Canadian University Accounting Association (CAAA) has issued its call for documents for the 2025 Annual Conference, which will be held June 12-14 in Toronto, Ontario. Under the theme ”Accounting and accountability in a disruptive market”, the conference aims to explore the evolving role of accounting in addressing the challenges posed by technological advances, socio-economic changes and disruptions caused by the platform. Experts, professionals and policy makers are invited to explore how accounting practices can be adapted to market dynamics in line with social and environmental requirements.
Inspired by Karl Polanyi’s concept of a market society, the conference seeks to analyse how accounting can mitigate the destabilizing effects of market autonomy. By examining contemporary issues such as increasing platform economies and the influence of artificial intelligence, CAAA 2025 provides a platform to discuss how accountants can lead innovation while maintaining ethical integrity. Highlights include a balance between market forces and social values, improved public sector accountability, and the promotion of equity, diversity, inclusion and self-reliance at a time of disruption.
Participants can expect a dynamic program with keynote speeches from such personalities as Professor Lee D. Parker of the University of Glasgow and Professor Partha Mohanram of the University of Toronto. The conference will also include research presentations, roundtables and a gala dinner. Beyond its academic orientation, the event will host a talent show, encouraging participants to show their creative aspects in a relaxed environment.
The authors are encouraged to submit their investigations before 15 January 2025. Specialized recognition documents can also be considered, such as the Lazaridis Award for Best Book on Issues Relevant to Technology Enterprises and inclusion in the Symposium on Qualitative Methods. Reflecting the CAAA’s commitment to inclusion, presentations in French and English are welcome as well as various research methodologies.
CAAA 2025 The conference is ready to be a transformational event for the accounting community, offering ideas and strategies to navigate the complexity of a rapidly changing market. He highlighted the key role of accounting in promoting sustainability and equity in global economic systems.
